Toilet Repair & Unblocking — UK-Wide, Vetted & Priced Up Front

Vetted & insured engineers Clear pricing before work starts G3-qualified for unvented cylinders No gas work — plumbing only

A running toilet quietly wastes hundreds of litres a day; a blocked one stops a household. Our your area plumbers repair and unblock toilets across the city, usually in a single visit with parts on the van.

Faults we fix in one visit

Running or constantly filling toilets, phantom refilling at night, weak or partial flushes, handles and buttons that need two presses, water leaking from the cistern or at the pan base, cracked seats and hinges, concealed cistern faults, and blockages within the pan and internal pipework. Engineers carry universal fill valves, flush valves, siphons, doughnut washers and pan connectors, so the overwhelming majority of your area toilet faults are fixed on the first attendance.

The everyday list in your area: fill valves that no longer shut off, flush seals letting water trickle into the pan (the classic cause of a moving meter), siphons that have lost their diaphragm, leaking close-couple kits between cistern and pan, failed pan connectors at the base, and blocked pans or internal branch pipes. All standard, all fixable same-visit with stocked parts.

Blocked toilet: internal vs external

If the blockage sits in the pan, the trap or the internal soil branch, we clear it mechanically — no drain-destroying chemicals. If other fixtures are backing up too, or the problem is downstream in the external run or a shared stack, the blockage is a drainage job. We'll diagnose honestly and hand you to our drainage partner rather than charging you for the wrong trade.

A single blocked toilet with everything else draining fine points to the pan or internal branch — our job, cleared with a proper closet auger rather than caustic chemicals. Multiple slow fixtures, gurgling, or smells from outside gullies point to the external drains, and that's a job for drainage specialists with jetting kit. We tell you which on the phone, before anyone is dispatched to your your area property.

Running toilets waste real money

A steadily leaking flush valve can pass 200–400 litres a day. On a metered your area supply, that's water and sewerage charges silently added to every bill, and on any supply it's an eventual overflow or damp problem. The dye test takes two minutes: a drop of food colouring in the cistern, wait fifteen minutes without flushing — colour in the pan means the flush seal is passing and needs replacing.

Constant refilling is money down the pan, literally: a passing flush seal or overrunning fill valve wastes hundreds of litres a day, which metered your area households pay for twice — supply and sewerage. The parts to fix it cost a fraction of a quarter's wasted charges. Your local water hardness affects how quickly scale builds in taps, cylinders and showers.

Cost of toilet repair in your area

Most standard repairs — a fill valve, flush valve, or internal unblock — fall in a from-£75 band in your area including the part, agreed before work starts. Concealed cisterns and macerator faults are quoted after inspection because access varies. No fault is invented to lift the invoice; if the honest fix is a £15 part, that's what gets fitted.

Expect from £75 for common your area toilet repairs with standard parts included, quoted up front. Internal unblocking is priced as a fixed job, not an open-ended hourly hunt. If a repair isn't economic — a cracked pan, an obsolete suite — we'll say so and quote a replacement instead.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my toilet keep running?

Two usual suspects: a fill valve that no longer shuts off cleanly, or a flush valve/siphon seal letting water pass from cistern to pan. Both are inexpensive stocked parts. The food-colouring dye test tells you which within fifteen minutes.

Can you unblock a toilet without chemicals?

Yes — and we'd rather. Mechanical clearing with a closet auger removes the blockage instead of dissolving a hole through it, and caustic chemicals make later work hazardous. If chemicals have been used, tell the engineer before they start.

The toilet blocks repeatedly — why?

Repeat blockages usually mean an underlying cause: wipes and non-flushables, scale narrowing the pan outlet, a damaged pan connector snagging waste, or a developing problem in the external drain. We diagnose the cause, not just the symptom — and route drain-run issues to our drainage partner.

Do you repair concealed cisterns in your area?

Yes. Concealed and furniture-mounted cisterns are accessed through the flush plate or service panel. Repairs take longer than exposed cisterns purely because of access, and the engineer will confirm the price once the frame type is identified.

My toilet leaks at the base — is that serious?

Yes: base leaks are usually a failed pan connector or a broken seal on the soil connection, meaning foul water into the floor. Stop using it where possible and get it reseated — the repair is routine, the untreated damage isn't.

Can you fix a weak flush?

Usually without replacing anything major: descaling rim jets, resetting fill levels, replacing a tired siphon diaphragm, or correcting a mis-installed dual-flush valve. Your local water hardness affects how quickly scale builds in taps, cylinders and showers.

Do you repair Saniflo and macerator toilets?

Yes — macerator repairs and replacements are a dedicated service. Blockages, jammed blades, failed micro-switches and end-of-life units are all covered; see our saniflo & macerator page for detail.

Should I repair or replace my toilet?

If the pan and cistern are sound, repair — internals are cheap and universal. Replace when the pan is cracked, the suite is obsolete enough that spares are unavailable, or repeated repairs are chasing a fundamentally worn unit. You'll get a straight recommendation either way.

Which parts of your area do you cover?

Every district, including your neighbourhood, the surrounding area and nearby districts.
