Why is my water pressure suddenly low?
Sudden change means something changed: a leak on your supply pipe, a valve disturbed or failing, works on the local network, or a blocked filter after mains work stirred up sediment. Sudden whole-house loss is worth investigating quickly — it's often a leak.
Why is only my shower weak?
Local causes dominate: scaled head, blocked inlet filter, worn cartridge, or a gravity-fed shower doing all its tank height allows. The fix ranges from a descale to a pump — diagnosis first.
What water pressure should I have?
UK suppliers typically work to a minimum standard of around 1 bar at the boundary stop tap; comfortable modern living generally wants more. We measure yours and compare against your supplier's stated levels.
Can I fit a pump to boost mains pressure?
Not directly — pumping from the main is against water regulations. Legal boosting uses a break tank or an accumulator. Anyone offering to pump your main is telling you they don't know the regs.
Does a water softener reduce pressure?
A correctly sized softener causes only a small drop; an undersized or scale-choked one can be significant. We test pressure either side of the softener to give a definitive answer.
My pressure drops when neighbours use water — why?
